Still going south currently in Corsica for winter
www.fairhead.com
Off sailing on Sunday for a week or so, out from Dartmouth and then west...
ending up?? subject to weather.

Just a quickie does anyone know of a web site with Waypoint info. for coastal Uk waters
I realise that its also contained in my Reed's but I wanted to see if I could get some data downloaded and then use a disk.
I note, having searched the web, that our USA cousin's seem to have far more free info. regarding waypoints, passage planning etc. etc. but information seems to be lacking for UK coastal waters!

Any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't trust any fixed way point and cant realy see the point in using them. You've still to find the position on the chart. Besides. And I cruise allot in that area. All be it by power. The curcumstances vary. If the weather is good, theres little or no navigating to do. Just take the scenic route and follow the coast. Then another time it's keeping out of the overfalls or plowing through them and not be able to see much, so need a different course. Maybe I'm thick or unsafe or what ever but I just cant see the point in using waypoint that might have been usefull to some one else, or for crossing the atlantiic. When shunting round devon or Cornwall.

No one can force me to come here-----------

Respect to you all, but I'll make my own waypoints rather than navigate to where everyone else is going, thanks.

Anyhow what do you want to go and see a load of cruddy buoys for? Published waypoints are seldom where you want them, you need to take them off the chart when you do a passage plan to take best effect from wind and tide situations. Small craft navigation by navigation buoys usually means extra mileage when many a corner can be safely cut.

If you can't pull a Lat. and Long off a chart almost as quick as you can read one, you probably can't effectively check the accuracy of someone elses efforts either.

Respect.
