I believe that, in the past, Coastal Rides has taken a bit of a bashing on these forums for poor quality of service and I, for one, have refrained from buying spares from them.
However, last week, they had the exact part that I was looking for and at a good price.
So, I placed an order for a Sealand/Dometic component.
Unfortunately, the wrong part arrived but I appreciate that it is difficult to identify the correct item.
Sealand don't include a label on complete assemblies.

Anyway a phone call to Coastal Rides and a very helpful lady called Ellie sorted it out - 24 hours later the item had been swapped for the correct one.

IMO, the sign of a good supplier is one who can rectify a problem quickly, efficiently and courteously.

Credit where credit is due.

I will be definitely using them again sometime.

I have used them a couple of times for some..not major stuff. I think for example a VP trim tab control which was a bit dusty but new and half the price. No issues on that sort of thing, personally.

Precisely why I will be wary of using them again. They are in business so they must be doing something right but their hit rate is not consistent. I had one good service from them followed by a multi order compounded disaster. And getting hold of them to rectify was diabolically poor. In fact I've just given up and taken the knock.

A couple of years ago my wife bought a chain counter from them for me for Christmas. She was unsure if it was something I wanted and explained, they offered to take it back after Christmas for a full refund if I didn't want it. It works perfectly so I've no issue with them.

I have bought a lot of fit-out equipment from them and been very happy with the low prices and fast delivery. They have items for sale that are not available anywhere else at their low prices so they are always my first stop when looking for parts.

I would (and have) go with them for a straightforward purchase of one or two specific parts at low or moderate cost. After the thread the other month I wouldn't be sending them my stuff for overhaul or buying anything complicated.

Seems to me they are more of a scrappy than a BMW main dealer packed with chrome, glass and mini skirts.
You pays yer money.......................

Equally, a few whinging complaints don't make them bad!

mmm. I'd be one of your whingers. Lets see if you wouldn't whinge.

Sent in two root super chargers for a complete overhaul, exchange as neccessary, just send be back good units.
Result - Two super chargers returned. One a exchange refurb unit. Checks undertaken according to them - put on a drill and wound up. errr ok. No oil in units, clutches not checked with terminals still painted closed. Complained what I had just spent close on 2 grand for and offered an extended 6 month warrantee. Easy to give. Put them on and both speed relay units blew within seconds of the ignition switched on (engines not even started!) with the port engine speed relay catching fire.

Sent in an oil cooler to have an oil pressure check as a precaution. Slight oil weep but believed to be from a O-ring not housing. They did a check on the water side not oil and when I chased the order up was told they were recoring it. They didn't. They sent a second hand one back with some connectors missing which I had to chase up for. And then billed.

I asked for a gear case cover. Billed but didn't arrive. Had to chase that one up.

I asked for super charger belts for the KAD 42 as per above. Billed but didn't arrive. Had to chase that one up. Got KAD 32 belts instead. Wanted me to pay for their postage return. I completely lost it then. These are not people I wish to deal with anymore. It's only 2k but the bloody anger was getting the better of me so I just knocked it on it's head and moved on.

Whinge. Yes I had a whinge, but you can feel free to use them whenever you like. Afterall, my first dealings with them went rather well. I bought a set of C4 props off them. They were fair priced and in good nick. I take it no engineering work was needed to get them that way.

nice recurring CR threads, I love them :D

I've posted before and will do again:

Bought 3-4 batches of various bits and bobs for my refit (total around 1K). Never was it vital for me to get the exact lightfitting or sparepart that had to fit in a particular device/engine/gbox etc.

I got some v.good bargains over the last 3yrs from them.
Typically 20% of the goods weren't the ones I ordered :D
As a result and as a compensaiton, I was getting a 10-15% more goods (OK not random things, but related to what I was ordering...).

Clearly their logistics dept is suffering (BADLY) but they were always v.quick in replying and all communication with them was excellent.

cheers

V.

PS. time to pay their website a visit to check for any interesting bargains!
