I've just serviced my Jon Buoy in preparation for the new season. Technology-wise, it's essentially a large manual lifejacket, so I checked it in much the same way. Left inflated hard for 24 hours, no noticeable pressure loss. Thorough visual inspection. Tested the light according to its manufacturer's instructions. And weighed the inflation cylinder.
The cylinder had a label saying "min gross weight 1299g". It weighed 1303g; over the minimum so I've happily repacked it, but I was a little surprised how small the amount over the minimum was. I imagined there would be a greater tolerance than that. Are most people's lifejacket bottles healthily over the limit?
(To be clear, I'm asking only out of curiosity. I'm not concerned about repacking this bottle and don't plan to take any action based on this post.)
