Not looking too good for the Shufflebum meet. We were not going to attend as we'd arranged to have the boat lifted out, but one look at the white horses in Ardrossan Horbour knocked that idea on the head. So we're now keeping her in for a while.

Meanwhile, Superstrath and crew are waiting for better weather in Ardrossan's howling winds, so they may be there some time. Forecast is not encouraging with everything up to 8 expected in the next few days.

Is this becoming a regular September pattern?

Yep - could be we will have to have a shore based meet instead. The bar has been restocked on RB as has the BBQ supplies.

Maybe we should decend on SC with a few sausages/steaks/hot dogs and a bottle or two or three /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Err, too late guys, we came home! Went to Brodick yesterday, though. On the ferry!

Weather looked OK yesterday, but the forecast was still crap, and the decision to stay in the marina was vindicated later.

The bar on SC was double stocked since we both brought full supplies. Still is well-stocked....

Shame, but I think we made the right choice. The forecast id still talking about 5-7 today. Seems quite good compared with what's due on Thursday:

"Outlook for all UK Inshore Waters for following 3 days:
A very unsettled few days with strong to gale winds for all, moderating for a time over England and Wales during Wednesday with the potential for severe gales or storms during Thursday."

There's always next weekend?

Don't you mean you will screw it to the masthead? - We can dance on the decks and keep the rest of the marina awake all night. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Guess I'll be needing two black balls instead of one next weekend along with a cone. (steaming and not under command) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Green house? I had heard he had put in for planning permission for a conservatory - hadn't heard about the green house.

It's the equinoctal gales, regular windy weather that appears during the latter half of September in the UK. The Azores high that shoves low pressures north of the UK during the summer starts to weaken, meaning that they come further south and hit Scotland. And there are still plenty of deep lows coming out of the warmer parts of the Atlantic with the hurricane season still so active. Not a good time to plan any long trips.
