Just to let forumites know, four visitor moorings are now operational at Carradale.
They are located just outside the harbour entrance, each with a pickup buoy. The cost is £10 a night and there is an honesty box for payment located beside the road as you turn into the car park. This is painted bright yellow so you can’t miss it.
You can land inside the little harbour, and take a walk into the village for fresh bread from the bakery.
Could make a change from Lochranza!

Fantastic!

& thanks for the post & info ..... If I make it over this year I'll definitely call-in! .....:)

I guess this is a bit exposed in winds from North to East? Looks like another useful stopping place, though.
I think you're right AP ...... no real shelter ..... could be nice in the Summer though ...... but could someone please inform me which week Summer is this year? ..... ;) :)

I suppose that this means that yachts are now totally frowned upon in coming in alongside the fishing boats?

We'd love to see more visiting yachties this year as things really seem to be happening in Carradale!
Ian Brodie at Carradale Bikes and Buggies (01583 431296) can bring mountain bikes down to the harbour so you can go off for a ride and you can visit either of 2 tearooms - The Network Tearoom or the Green Room - in the village.

Carradale moorings

Unfortunately there are not many fishing boats left to worry about being frowned upon. Plenty of space in the harbour these days and much cleaner too. Anyway you have as much right to be in the harbour as anyone else regardless of the moorings having been laid. An excellent tea
room called the Green Room which serves lunches is now situated above the harbour and is open for business on Fri, Sat and Sundays. Get ashore and enjoy the village.

Good news indeed. If wind from the North, but maybe not East, there is always the the main beach for anchoring off; I have lunched there if not overnighted - on the way to Campbletown! Should be OK in gentle weather

If the wind were N or NE - I would be happy using the beach/bay on the South side.. Fairly decent clean sand with OK holding, been in there a couple of times.
