Having learnt to sail over the last five years in fresh water lochs it is now time for me to move into the sea. Marina berths are expensive, does anyone now of any moorings for hire in the cylde area preferably largs/farlie area.

many thanks

You should contact Largs Sailing Club at Largs Yacht Haven as there may be some moorings to spare up at the old slipway. The moorings were on a trot but I am not sure as to the state of them. I have a mooring there (at least I had some years ago but it may have sunk into the sand) You should be aware that it is very exposed and geting to and from the boat can be a bit iffy. Send me a message and I will get you some more details.

How about Irvine Harbour? The bridge may be a pain but the moorings are cheap!

Try Stuart McIntyre at Cumbrae Yacht Slip (Millport, Isle of Cumbrae). He certainly used to let moorings in Largs Bay and off Millport
