Hi all - since my last post (re volvo s drive gaiter seal) I have decided to leave the main gaiter seal alone for now. However - think it would be wise to change the shaft seals - can anyone recommend an engineer in the clyde area who has experience in changing these shaft seals? Boat is in Ardrossan for the winter.

Cheers - Simon

I would second West Coast Marine Services at Troon. Having experienced some of the alternatives available it is, for me, a "no brainer" - Hugh and Neil at WCMS get first refusal on any work I need done on the boat (well work I don't do myself)

Thanks for the recommendations - will give them a call - was also going to try MMS Ltd who are on site at Ardrossan - anyone advise on experiences with these guys?

Are you practically minded ? can you remove the prop yourself ?

If you can it's an easy morning's job to do. You don't need a press I just use a vice and squeeze them in and out. It should only cost you £25 for the shaft seals a bit of greese and a refill of oil and a few hours work.
