clutch labels

it is a simple thing. just want labels for my jammers - main, kicker, topper, genoa, will need be stuck on.

force 4 do some glowfast ones but they don't have the right selection of names - we can make do but it would be nice to have them right if possible.

where do you guys get yours from, or what do you use.

cheers

DYMO type labeller is the best deal.

I bought a load of bits to refurb my Spinlock clutches. Foolishly added a sheet of their stick on labels. shocking, mind numbing price when the total bill arrived!

The DYMO labeller will be cheaper.

But I have to say that the labels have lasted about 5 seasons. So good quality, but such a price!

" I always thought that the panel was made of perspex painted black. The writing is engraved into the black paint then carefully filled with white paint. "

Very similar except you can buy it like that.

As in post #11

I did mine in the same way except used glow in the dark paint which is OK for the the jam cleats but not for the inside labelling and mimic panels.

I have also used Corel Draw to create the an engraving file for the panels and then my engraver just feeds that into his laser engraver to do the back engraving onto the black acrylic blank.

Three shower drain pumps.

And if you'd used words instead of symbols that would have been obvious :)

Seriously though, are you expecting your boat to be used by the illiterate?

The reason I prefer a portable labeller rather than one connected to a PC is that it's mostly used to label wiring, and I may not know in advance exactly which labels I need (or rather, I'd have to do a lot more planning in order to arrive at the boat with the correct set). With the handheld I can create them as needed.

i have 2 laptops on the boat so don't find it much of a constraint!

the outside label is starting to yellow after 2 years in the sun, but it is still stuck fast. It is easy to reprint of course and no hand held labeller could do such a complex label.

Here's a simpler one, but again not easy without a PC.

And my switch panel. Font and sizes to match the original, spacing correct etc.
