Club for normal people

OK Saturday 19th October, meeting in the Bournemouth / Poole / Lymington area. Anybody up for it, as Aztec says just a casual drink and chat at a boozer, Any suggestions as to the final venue area.

I suggest as long as a few of us are up for it, we can leave it open to others, just pay for your own costs. I will come down from london, and would like to make an afternoon of it, so if you are up for a lunchtime meet let's get it going.

Names of those up for it please

Pete

Grumps, general feeling was a bit of a drink/nosh up then a bit of a blast! I think that was Geoffs idea. Tug the boat down for the weekend, launch at wareham stay at the local hotel! And the speed limit is lifted in the harbour WHOPEE!!!!!!

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

Hey smart boat aztec. I bought one yesterday, a Glastron GS 209, you couldn't swing a mouse in mine. Anyway I need some ideas from SENSIBLE people about what gear I will need on this boat. It is new, I have asked them to store it until Feb 2003, so I have time to get it sorted. I have not even been in or on it so do not know what it will go like, although I have been told it will do 50mph. Do you think an 'A' frame would look stupid on the back, thought I could put aerial e.t.c. on that.

Pete

Baz, BIG problem, my boat is in a boat yard, I only bought it yesterday and have decided to pick it up Feb, it is a 2003 model so I thought it best to let the warranty start then. I would be willing to chip in for some gas if anyone will take me for a blast after the food. Wait, are you SURE food beer then SEA, I am a virgin motor boater, not the best way to be broken in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pete

from what i remember about my mates glastron.. they're brilliant boats, and yes you should put an Aframe on. you will need it for nav lights, flare pack, antenna, and to tow us children around swanage bay with next year! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

ah! there you are.. wondered where you'd got to. looked for you at the show, ended up going to the YBM bar, then the guiness bar the... you get the picture!, wifey went shopping leaving me with a fiver... lucky i had my reserve 'shute!!

where are you based anyway? we're taking forward the idea of meeting at wareham quat over the weekend of 21st oct, if you're interested.

drop me a PM, if ya like. regards, steve.

Wouldn't mind a bit of a shakedown run to Poole, don't think I can get up to Wareham though (how shallow?)
Any chance of a lift from say, town quay?

Your get to wareham. The trip boats from poole get up there on HW neaps. Shallowest point in the bend at redcliffe and a bit of a shallow patch just by the Priory Hotel. But they'll only be a problem at LW springs

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

bloody 'ell we've only gone and organised something.... by accident!! how are we gonna know who's coming then?

could suggest PM? or use a forum thats not used much... classic boat forum? oh, i'm gonna get done for that!!

suggest posted question:- who's up for wareham weekend 19th-21st oct? wadda ya fink?

I'm up for the 19th, got a wedding later in the day but will say hello and have a couple of drinks. Wareham is OK for me but needs to start about 12noon.

What do we wear, red roses?!!!!

Pete

Start a new thread now just for the Wareham do, it will be easier to manage. People who are interested can state their claim to a limited number of spaces for it on there!!

Pete

Ok by me. But if we go anywhere can we go somewhere where petrol is available so I can get back! Wot about arrive friday with eve pis...er drink, sat do a bit of a cruise then back to the Italian on the Quay for bit of a nose bag, sunday have bit of a blast round to poole quay then disperse lunch time ish, Whad'ya think, too much!

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

I've lost the thread of this thread! Been away for the day, and it's 50 post long. What does it all mean, what is the meaning of life?

As far as I can gather there might be a gathering at Wareham 19/20th Oct. Sounds fine to me. The only thing I'd say, is that tides are a bit more favourable the following weekend. Looks like would have to leave Wareham by about 3:00pm, on the 20th, when tide starts falling a bit quick.

Also some people might want to come without a boat. I could probably give a couple of peeps a ride from Poole Quay. With only a little bath tub, two is about the limit.

Old Chinese proverb 'Man who sail boat into rice field, soon get into paddy'

ok, let me check out ridge warfe to see if they do petrol. if not then the fuel barge in the harbour, or cobbs quay will do, i'll have a ring round tomorrow. seems like a bloody good idea to me. if i find out some "gen" i'll post a new thread tomorrow, just to guage the level of interest. (bet it pisses down)

a good mate of my step daughters works in the italian, so should be able to sort out something there. and i'll check with clive from the EA to make sure that 30 boats can moor up for the night. so watch this space!!

best regards, steve.

hi geoff, i know what you mean about the thread... it's gone all over the place. we're talking sat, 19th oct. some will have a drinkie or two and go, others may stay. my boat won't be ready so thats me done, but i'm looking forward to meeting the peeps that turn up. i need to find out about things like fuel and the like tomorrow, and i'll make a new post (simon where are you?) tomorrow. so watch this space.

regards, steve.

I know where to get petrol round poole and all the usual places that I go to. If the destination was say christchurch then it might be a different matter. Never attempted the entrance there! At this time of the year the whole quay will be available. The trip boats stop at the end of sept, so the half of the quay that they use will be free. I rekon that you'll get a max of say, 15-20 boats. You can raft out to about 5 boats at the quay so I reckon it wont be a prob.

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

ok, sorted then, watch for the post tomorrow, 'cos if it's anywhere else i'll have to arrange the family around it. not a real problem, but needs to be a consideration.

regards, steve.
