It looks as if I will be twiddling my thumbs for several days, as the North Sea doesn't look very inviting until after the weekend, so technique is going to be important. We had intended to go to Lowestoft today and on to Ijmuiden the next, but spending nearly a week there doesn't appeal to us.

I must try and pass the time constuctively while keeping out of Alison's way, or she'll get me doing duties around the house. The boat is fully loaded and bunkered, so there's not much to do there. I imagine that there are numbers of sailors in the same situation. What is annoying is that the sun is shining innocently out there today.

We are going across next week. As I have a North Sea newbie with me I am planning on Bradwell - Ostend - Flushing. The forecasts are changing every few hours. When I looked this afternoon it was motoring weather but now it's 20knots. I shall be ready for a pre-dawn start on Wednesday and decided on Tuesday if we need to delay. We are meeting spouses in Middelburg on 1st June so no rush.

I'm coming back from Ijmuiden (with CPD) but not sure if its better to come back via Lowestoft or Harwich. See what the weather gods think at the time.

Stuck in Southwold at present, because we like it a bit better than Lowestoft. Plan A was to go to IJmuiden last Wednesday, plan B was to go today, plan C is Sunday.... After a couple of uncomfortable crossings last year (wind on nose, bumpy sea, cold, generally miserable rather than frightening), we promised ourselves that we'd wait for decent weather before crossing this year. At this rate, we will be here all summer...

Good to hear from you again. It looks like about 15kn SW on Monday and rain but light winds on Tuesday, so we plan Lowestoft on Sunday. Some friends of ours have been there since last week, heading north.
