Under way and making way. Good luck to all of them. Great challenge.

Will the usual suspect nagavators be along soon to tell us how reckless it all is? :D

I watched them depart from Gunwharf Quay yesterday. Clipper put on a good show including a (I assume unplanned) major squall that came through just as they were departing soaking the spectators and crews. All good training for the southern ocean I guess! Quite emotional watching them saying their goodbyes to their loved ones.

I didn't realise they switched their AIS off. Last on Vesselfinder 20 hours ago in Portsmouth. Not on the YB app either.

Where can you follow them?

It wasn't so. 😁

Chatgpt says they turn it off to stop them seeing each other's tactics. If so, I guess you can't follow them anywhere.

Did anyone else find that finding the actual race route on the official website wasn't easy ...

Clicking through the menus came up with this page...
Clipper Round The World Race

This appears to show the first leg is all the way to South America..

The tracker however showed just 1300 miles left to go on this leg... odd...

Their page on Facebook however showed the following map which does show the Puerto Sherry stop in Spain.

Pretty sure the legs indicated are the "packages" that clipper sell. So if you buy a leg one package you get to go all the way to Punta Del Este.

Just that sitting by the castle at the start you could overhear lots of people chatting about where the next stop was.... and there didn't seem to be any consensus.

I had expected the official website to have been been a little more clear.

Ah, I can see CV25, CV26, CV28, CV29 to the west of the CI. CV27 on a different tack (literally).

It was CV2, CV3, CV7, CV8, CV9 etc that fooled me as they were outside Portsmouth yesterday but now pinging from Gosport. I didn't realise Clipper had that many boats.

I also wondered about some of the CVn boats that were milling around near the start but not racing.

Would they by any chance have been boats from previous years that were in the area in the last week..

We noted that you could book to go on board some of the boats for a guided tour in the days before the start. Could the tours have been on previous years boats so that general public were not wandering around a boat that was just about to set off around the world?

Practice boats to train the crews for future legs of this race and the next I think..

Have you looked at the race tracker? Shows this leg finishes in Puerto Sherry. Good spot to catch a ferry over to Cadiz for a nice break.

I have seen the tracker, yes.. but I had also expected to see clearer details on the main website regarding course route, legs and stopovers..

There wasn't anything obvious on the main website about the race gates either or mid leg races that sort to show on the tracker.

Looks like any yacht news also appears as a 'play' button on the tracker but not on the website.

Last thing for now... I was getting concerned that 'Scotland' was not showing on the tracker.. only nine boats show ..

Reason now discovered... something new I learnt!!

Scotland is in stealth mode according to the tracker. M9re info on the website.

Looks to have been a bumpy night and continuing for a few hours. Vomitastic.
