Anyone got any ideas or where to get platic tube the right size for internal fitting of the depth transducer. I feel very mean and dont want to pay £12 for a kit, plastic tube, oil and some filler! Ideas welcome.

fairy liquid washing up bottle, cut to size ( make sure an adult is available), double sided sticky tape.

Or, drainpipe?

tupleware spaggetti holder, prolly in your loft or back of pan cupboard, never been used!

Or, cardboard, fiberglass around it and to bottom of hull, et voila, a ready made built in oil bath.

That is exactly what I did two years ago and it has worked very well since then (the year before that I just stuck it down with a large blob of chewing gum to ensure I had got it in a suitable location; the chewing gum at the end of that season was showing signs of not liking the occasional drop of bilge water).

I used the kit when I installed mine, but if I remember correctly, the kit contains a short length of domestic 1.25" sink waste pipe. I probably have a piece in the garage, or at work, if you want I will post you a length.
If I did it again, I would bond straight to the hull as my installation weeped and required occasional topping up with oil, despite carefull preparation of the area.

Slap a big lump of petroleum jelly on the end of the transducer, then push it down and give it a twist into the hull at a dry flat place.... et voila.

No need for a pipe at all.

Fitted mine in Feb and went to Holland and back with no problems.
