Cleopatra Prevezza. Does it still exist?

There are still 3 yards on the south side by the airport, Aktio, Cleopatra and Ionian Marine. All these yards are very big and I would have thought that they have their own websites. Which one is best? All have there followers, and I do not think that there is a great deal between them.

Cleopatra is the largest. They have a large area of concreted hard standing, a marina, restaurant, bar and other creature comforts. I've heard that owners are not allowed to work on their own boat whilst it is in the yard. I also understand that they are the most expensive of the three, but you get what you pay for.
Ionian is the next one down the road. It is smaller than Cleo. I have no experience of this yard.
Aktio is at the end of the road. They use a hydraulic bogey to get boats out. If you're used to travel hoists as we were then this method can appear to be a bit risky but it's not. In fact it's probably safer as the boat is lifted on a multi point system with large rubber pads. Standing in the yard is not concrete but grass. Power and water are available to all positions in the yard and you can work on your own boat. We used Aktio for two winters and were very pleased with the service and especially the price when compared with Cleo.
If you're going to winter at one of them then you must eat at Panos taverna which can be found at the other end of the road and about 5 mins walk from Aktio, closer to Cleo.
Here's a link to the web site of Aktio.

Either you've heard wrong, or Cleo turn two very blind eyes to owners working on their boats. It's different with outside professionals, who are required to pay a surcharge to the yard.

If you should winter at any of the three, you'll have a long wait for dinner: Panos closes from late Oct/early November until late March or thereabouts. Otherwise, it's a good spot. Wintering at any of the three yards might suit a hermit: they're very dead (precisely the reason Panos shuts shop).

ITH - you're right, the website looks like it's down. If you need info try phoning, they speak very good English, German, Italian etc. Or email, that was working last time I tried.
We've left the boat in the Cleopatra yard every winter since 2006 and always found them helpful and reasonably priced. Also I've never been challenged about working on my own boat.

They've just lost our business to Ionian because we couldn't establish any contact with them....no website....no email.
Sad really.

Yes, sad for them. And odd, since they're quite the slickest and most commercially switched-on of the three yards.
That said, I prefer the atmosphere at Ionian. And they even have a small workshop for the use of clients.

DO NOT, under any circumstances, employ the engineering services of Cleopatra. There are any number of subscribers with horror stories including the undersigned. You will find my story in the archive but in any case, feel free to send me a private message.

Just had reply from Cleopatra. Only four weeks after the first enquiry. Maybe this boatyard was slick and professional once but not now. I read through their contract conditions and have conclude that it was written by Basil Faulty. I'm getting a much better deal from Ionian.
Web site still not accessible
