Clear meths now available in Go Outdoors

They had some in my local branch last week.
I no longer have a use for ethanol but came across it looking for paraffin.
I had to ask for the location of the paraffin and was told because of Elfin Safety paraffin had to be stored in a steel box.
The ethanol was sitting on a normal display shelf.

The Bioethanol was in the Portsmouth B&q last week, along with the heater that uses it. I think £10 for 2 litres?
Paraffin is also in B&q and Gnomebase, in the garden area.
Only in a steel box in the sense that B&Q shops are steel boxes....

The last lot I got was £5 for 2 litres.

I had better go and stock up if BnQ are stopping stocking it.

I too was amazed at how it's stored in the store. A pile of highly flammable solvent in plastic bottles, madness. But it's tree hugging bio so it must be OK.

Unless its changed since I retired the regulations on storing and using highly flammable liquids would require meths to be stored in an steel bin, except for containers up to 500ml.

Paraffin is not highly flammable so outside the scope of those regulations and as far as I know not classed as a petroleum spirit so not covered by the regulations governing its storage.

Quite possible however that local authority H&S or fire brigade officers have imposed some illogical rules of their own.
