Took some rather sad and green ropes off boat today. Is there any way that they can be cleaned up ? I've heard it possible to put in pillow case in washing machine but not sure that this will be permited by Domestic Hygine Executive.

Nick

My boat is here and out of the water in time for winter....

I've pressure washed them in the past, gets rid of some of the muck, but much better then to shove em in the wash machine. Finishes em off a treat.

Definitely bung them in the washing machine, or better yet let her do it. After all you're cleanning them for her aren';t you?

If your arrangement is like most of us, where you do the driving and she does the rope handling bit, then who's the one that really benefits from nice clean soft ropes? You at the steering wheel? No I didn't think so.

Just checked with my SWMBO and she does them on a 40 degree wash with some Persil then if they don't come up clean first time, she runs them through again. Oh and no need to bother with the pillow case bit unless you've got shackles or eyes on the rope. What's the point of the pillow case, hardly going to disappear through the holes in the drum are they.

"Holes in the drum"? What *are* you on about? Just open the door, take the glass plate thing out, wham the stuff in, press the go button and hunt around in the bin for the instructions. Probably will need ketchup.

Oops! He asked about washing. In that case take them up into the bedroom and chuck them around the place, they will be clean in about three days.

My Mummy soaks them a while in a sink with a bleach mix then puts them in a Pillow Case and washes them in the Washing Machine. People stop me in the street now and ask me about my soft hands and other little boys stop and stare at my gleaming ropes in envy.

Never tried one of these washing machine gizmo's. Domestic stuff and all that!!!!!!

Little woman gets fed up with the state of the ropes. Changes them over for the spare set. Takes them home. Wash's them in the rumbly thing in the garage. Then takes them back for the next change over.

Where's the problem ???

Got to go now, She's just phoned to say the house has been burgled while we were at the boat.

ChrisP :o((((

What do you mean the sea gull in front's walking !!!

And use some nice Lenor type fabric conditioner in the wash to make em all soft and pliable, works a treat!

"Hopefully that won't be too expensive to fix?"

Re:Burgled?

We think they must have been disturbed when Di's mum went in to feed the rabbits. mostly personal items worth more in memories than pounds.

Thanks for the thoughts

They didn't take the photo of me above your bed did they? If so put another religious one there until I can send you a new one.

I shouldn't joke about it really because I do empathise with you both but I couldn't resist.
