Did the last few jobs on the boat yesterday prior to launching today.

Was absolutely staggered at how hard it was to remove a deposit on the bow facing side of the phospher bronze prop. It was amost like a thin layer of concrete almost the thickness of the actual blade.

Boat is at hamble point but cannot remember ever having such a hard job cleaning prop before. Ended up rubbing it down with wet & dry 150 grade really hard work and was running out of time as it was getting dark. Probably ended up scratching/etching it nicely for this years deposit to adhere even better.

Is there an easier way to clean the prop and have others found a harder deposit than normal this year?

Small circular orbital sander......... almost effortless. Just keep changing to finer paper for the finish you require.

buy some ryhdle (I think its spelt right) disolves any organic build up £7.50/ltr from the company direct or from the usual chandlers, normally used for desalting engines or remove prop and immerse in coka cola, not the diet one.
