cleaning md 2030 heat exchanger

just finished - what a load of muck etc came out of it - engine had been running warm/hot when worked hard so having read up on it (very useful posting on http://www.myhanse.com/md2030-heat-exchanger-clean-and-coolant-drain-tap_topic3621.html) removed exchanger yesterday and been descaling in the sink today - mind you mine looks different to the one in the hanse post .



Now for the exhaust elbow which I have unbolted but so far not been able to get exhaust hose off- next time!

No, get it off this time. They need replacing every 10yrs or decoking.

sorry by next time I meant next time I get down to the boat - intend to remove hose from exhaust so I can check elbow which is high rise version and refit lovely clean heat exchanger

Knitting needle then dish washer. Like new!

about 3 of the tubes in the stack needed rodding with kebab stick - would like to try dishwasher but someone says NO

Dunked mine is a 50/50 solution of Rydlyme and water. Left it soaking overnight and it was immaculate the next morning.
