We all have to do it sometime or other even if just a boys boat like mine! My boat dates back a few years (many actually) but was new to me last year and this was meant to be the first deep clean.

Today has been spent scrubbing and cleaning the interior. Lots of dirt cleaned judging by the bowls of dirty water; everything has had a wipe over and rub today.

But the headlining is of the type that is patterned with a crazy line system and no amount of rubbing has taken the grime from the very shallow ridges.

I have only used multi surface cleaner and mildew and mould cleaner. One of them was powerful enough to bleach spots on my shirt so not just fairy liquid.

Can anyone recommend a solution to getting the headlining spotless - not sure it would take steam cleaning but I was thinking of that?

Many thanks...

I used MucOff motorcycle cleaner on my vinyl cockpit cushions. I didn't know they were blue. I always thought they were black!

The stuff for cleaning vinyls and plastics in cars is very good for this. There are a few different ones in Halfords.

It may take more than one application. Before I discovered this stuff I had used a soft nail brush water with jif with bleach....gave good results but was messy and difficult..

The spray was easier.

We find 'Pink Stuff' paste very good. Cheap too. Excellent for fenders as well.
