Cleaning Heat Exchanger

we did this with a pair of Volvo AD31's in our last boat by removing them and sitting them in a bath of brick cleaner, we did the exhaust elbows at the same time and it made a big difference to the water flow and cooling.

I would avoid stripping the insert/tube-bundle out of the case. I did this with one of my exchangers, and it wrecked the thing.

You should be able to get away with cleaning out the tubes by removing the end caps, and flushing the fresh water side.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Cheers,
Paul

I've done this on AD31's by taking off the end cap and rodding the tubes with an old knitting needle and flushing through. You will need something a bit longer for the heat exchanger on the KAD 300 though.
