I have, so far, (touch wood) been the owner of a pretty clean engine bilge, although I have managed to spill some lubricating oil into the corrugations of the saildrive gaiter, which I have almost completely cleaned up with kitchen towel, but if I did have to do a big degreasing job I would plump for the the Cillit product mentioned above, as all the commercial engine cleaners I have used in the past on motorbikes and cars have had an unpleasant "engineeering" smell.
If reach into inaccessible parts is required, to rub the product onto parts not reached by the spray, I would try poking in a radiator roller.
