Our new (to us) boat has saloon cushions whose covers can't be removed. We wondered if we could clean them in situ, perhaps using a steam cleaner. Has anyone any experience of this, or any tips for cleaning cushion covers without taking them off?

I cleaned mine with a VAX wet & dry. Any carpet/upholstery cleaner will work fine. Do it in warm dry weather or put a dehumidifier in the boat to remove all the moisture.

I use the Rug Doctor, available to hire from B & Q and supermarkets, with the upholstery cleaner add-on and upholstery cleaner liquid.

These machines are more powerful than those that I would buy in my budget range, and I don't have to find garage space all year for it.
