clean up seat bases

Anyone have any ideas how i could spruce these up?

Just had to do a table leg that was similar, I gave it a rub down with a wire brush wheel on a drill, spray painted it with an acid etch primer and then brush painted with hammerite. As I have just had a new (and very nice solid teak and holly) floor fitted I could't put the scruffy old table leg back in.

It has all turned out very well.
