Re: Claysie\'s Gatso Revenge

I'm in denial here - very much in support, but in denial. Actually if you get a length of anchor warp and loop it round the top then attach it to the tow bar of the landrover and move gently forwards it tilts the blasted camera up and this gives police a chance to take pictures of all the naughty pilots speeding through the airspace above the 30 mph zone - which in my book at least is far worse than doing 34 in a 30 zone and being smacked for 60 squid as they are making a lot of noise.

jeremy clarkson interviewed a dutch guy on tv last night who had a wegsite dedicated to wrecked speed cameras. unfortunately he didn't give the url. favourite was to sling a tyre over the camera, fill it with petrol and set light to it. serious mess!

When driving around Holland we see quite a few that have been sabotaged in a quite effective, though admittedly less spectacular way. Aerosol paint can sprayed over the lens. A little ingenuity comes up with a means of triggering the flow with the can taped to a stick at lens height. Quite a popular pastime over here. Next thing we know there will be a camera monitoring the camera!

I've often thought this is why there are no gatsos in France. Direct action? It's every Frenchman's middle name.

The tuf-tuf-club. The ttc states that the government is inconsistent in their traffic laws. They agree that there are places where you shouldn't speed, and where 30 km/h IS a sensible speed. But 50 on an endless polder road? And put a Gatso there? That's just to earn a quick buck.

Pictures of people getting their own back on Gatso's:

Check out "flitspaalvandalisme"= fash pole vandalisme, and the historical foto's "Historische foto's"

They've got a hilarious running contest (Flat out): send in a picture of your dashboard while driving to fast for your car. It's not about 250 km/h in a Porsche, anybodycan do that. But 190 downhill with a citroen AX????
Of course all photographed on German highways.

Group of people on the pontoon: skipper is the one with the toolbox.
