Claymore\'s Summer

Looks as if the manacles are being unlocked on July 12th and re-fitted on around August 25th.
Dear Heart has behaved in a most underhand manner and got me to promise - whilst in drink - that I'd paint the Gable End of the house which is going to take a week by the time I've remembered how to erect the bloody scaffolding and then fallen off it a few times.
Is anyone planning to be in Scottish West Coast waters between these dates?

Re: Painting the hoose

you can get other people to do this. The secret is to pay partly in cash, then trumpet the very low price you have negotiated and pay the agreed 100 quid by cheque.

The other alternative is to explain how it actually very bad to paint the house in the summer because the paint sets solid and won't let the wood "breathe". Actually, you can use the same argument regardless of the month.

Re: Claymore\'s Summer

Non boaty but should I have negotiated a fee with you for borrowing your "dearheart" expression for my beloved? Sooo much nicer than SWMBO
I always think. TCM has given an excellent answer, "Its all in the delivery"

Re: Claymore\'s Summer

TCM beat me to it.

You spend a fortune owning a boat and then you try to scrimp a wee bit by doing the wall yourself at the height of the marching - sorry - sailing season.

It could only happen in Scotland!

Summer? Scotland? Surely the two are strange bedfellows?

Heathens, midges, gorse, rain, painter decorators, resting lecherers............................../forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Re: Claymore\'s Summer

Yep, we're around in July. Probably spend early July pottering around the small Isles, then joining up with the Classic Malts cruise (Oban->Skye->Islay) in late July. Be fun to meet up somewhere.

Anyone else doing the Classic Malts?

Rich

PS Mine's an Ardbeg!!!

Dearheart is fine by me - smacks of braveheart whom she sometimes resembles when not best pleased.

Indeed.

No Bombay Saphire this season - going with Genevre for a change. Better hurry up or the Port will be finished....
