Well done, ladies and gentlemen!

What a real pleasure the CB stand was, with its associated exhibitors nestling under its wing - what an oasis of sanity amid the polished fibreglass gin palaces and over-bright lighting.

Whilst I already knew/knew of Des Pawson, Jimmy Lawrence and Traditional Boat Supplies, John Barber was a real discovery. Also enjoyed the Collars, Gweek and Peter Freebody stuff.

I hope that you will be able to persuade more stalwarts of the old boat fraternity to join you next year - "critical mass" - which is what you were getting - makes all the difference.

Agreed. I now own a fid, and Dilkusha has persuaded me to work very hard on Crystal's hull finish next winter.

Just been speaking with Dan...

...and everyone really pleased at the recognition of classic boats with the feature. I cannot see a time when I personally will be caulking a boat but I have to say that I listened to every word of that particular presentation and enjoyed the down-to-earth pragmatic approach.

No doubt Dan will pick this up next week but I'll pass on your messages...the Classic Boat feature is delightfully internet free!

ps -- just for fun try a Google search on 'London Boat Show' and you'll see the Classic Boat feature has made it on page 1.

Thanks chaps. Still coming down from the Boat Show here. It was a good one wasn't it? I for one was pleased to see the Vicky dock put to such good use; I'd worked on the local paper at Newham in the late 1980s when that whole area was a desert and used by film companies for its urban wasteland vistas.
But if anyone is moved to write to the British Marine Federation then James Gower and co should also be thanked for going out on a limb and helping to create that space. I thought the whole show was a breath of fresh air too, and opened up the whole business, with the narrowboats etc. I know we met people who would never have come to Earls Court and that can only be good.
It would be great to do it again next year...

It needs to be bigger, but otherwise good effort, nice to have all the stands where people know my name/face in one place!
but did I really need a set of caulking irons, in bronze? Must have, I bought 'em........

It was fine,,,,,, I borrowed wheels but it's just as well that I can walk a few yards, Excell is not as wheelchair friendly as I had hoped. I spent a satisfying amount of cash on spare GPS, expensive boots (silly) and bronze caulking irons (very silly but what the hell).
I might even go again next year,,,,,,,,,,,
