I want to make wood boarding steps for my sailboat. Not for 'out of the water' boarding necessarily as we have plastic steps that go into the water. I recall seeing classic steps that folds so they can be used folded, presumably with two or three wide steps or opened up to give 4 or six narrower steps. Can anyone recommend where I might find a plan, drawing or picture of such a thing.

Thanks.

<font color=blue>Hi John and welcome to the forums. If you shop around I think you will be able to buy these off the peg. Last year I needed some replacement steps for my boat and the Chandler had leaflets on an amazing range of them. In fact so much so I was spoilt for choice.

I too want to make a single step just to ease the step off of the pontoon but you might be interested in the 'New Gear' spot in the Feb edition of YM which shows a 'fender step' priced at £35.Made by EyeCo - 01473 659666.

Cheers

You could try Timage, Braintree, Essex. 01376-343087. I have their 1997 catalogue which includes "Ladder Fittings in Brass or Chromium Plated". Sizes range from 125L x 32W mm to 50L x 22W mm. So this might be what your after.
