Wood is easy but how does one define a clasic

In the car world, a classic used to be "Anything old except a Morris Marina". My own definition of a classic car is "one in which the owner has a nameless dread of anybody trying to use the cigarette lighter", so a classic boat is probably "one in which nobody dares to open the portholes or close the seacocks".

My moggie minor is under "classic car" insurance and ws built in 1968. My boat was built in 1966 so I guess that's a classic, too. Of course, Charles Nicholson was a bit more upmarket than Wiliam Morris but then, who's counting...?

Out. It's about as classic as a Bavaria. Funny sails do not make a boat a classic, what you have is a thoroughly modern boat.

Excellent! So that's settled, my Bavaria is a classic!

Do I need a fancy cap with the word skipper on it now, or can I just stop shaving??
