This is scheduled for Thursday and Friday of next week and I was planning a trip up there (weather permitting) to watch from the water.

I learned yesterday that for the Southend Air Show there are restrictions about anchoring off-shore. What's the deal up at Clacton? Is there somewhere along that shore that you can anchor and are you allowed to on Air Show days? I realise that there is no sheltered anchor spot but if the holding is OK, I could tolerate bouncing around for a few hours if there are planes to watch.

Clacton Air Show 2009

Weather permitting its a great day out.. See my last years photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/greenacre8/sets/72157606920785109/

Buoys are laid about half a mile offshore and yachts & boats must anchor outside of them in about 20 ft of water.. If you venture inside the buoys a Police rib will zoom out and move you on .

Although they try to keep the display in the area between you and the beach in effect it takes place over your heads.

Although if its windy and a bit lumpy laying at anchor could be very uncomfortable .

Weather permitting we will be there

Thanks for the reply - I'd just about given up getting a response. If the weather obeys the latest forecast it ought to be a 2-3 westerly so should work OK. Hope to see you out there.
