The Vulcan is Thursday only and the BBMF and the Sally B are flying both days as far as I am aware Mike. There is still a question mark as to whether the BBMF Lancaster will be airworthy in time...although latest information is saying it is unlikely. Not certain about timings as yet.
The BBMF didn't fly at Eastbourne last week, we were led to believe it was weather related. Given the weather we experienced on Thursday it was most probable. However it may have also been for other reasons mechanical if there is doubt for For Clacton.
Bump! According to their website the Red Arrows are on at 15:00 tomorrow and 13:00 on Friday. Anyone had a sniff of the scheduled time for the Vulcan yet?
It was around 16:00 and I got more than a sniff of the scheduled time ..... I got a sniff of kerosene as he shaped up to land on Bonsella but then aborted! It was a fantastic display ... better than last year, I think but very sad to think we will not see it flying again. It was horribly bumpy bouncing around off Clacton though, although was a cracking sail back into the Blackwater.
It was the best Clacton air show we've seen. The magnificent Flying Fortress nearly took the wind instruments off the top of our mast (so it seemed), the Typhoon would have toasted marshmallows if we'd brought them, and the Vulcan is and surely always will be the most imposing aircraft of all time. It wasn't as bad at anchor as I thought it would be. Very happy now that I invested in a modern anchor this year. Not much fun pulling it up again though, especially when the chain keeps jumping off the roller (redesign required), fortunately all fingers still intact.
Oh dear, we were very unimpressed by it on Friday! Saw and enjoyed the Red Arrows with some passes right overhead, then saw nothing! We were not at anchor but sailing from the Colne to Harwich.
