I have 17 days off as from next Thursday, now do I plan to take the boat over to the CI's, (plan A) or down the west coast to Falmouth And stop off at the unusual places,(plan B) (both weather dependant) or shall I just cut my losses and have a week in the med looking for a new berth, (plan C)

Def plan c , take me with you.

I'm also off for 17 days from the 13/7 , if it looks poor here we will be on the plane for sure.

Paul, are you still planning on heading west if weather ok?
Let me know if you do as might have another weekend there before the August two weeks.

Plan A as it feels like a holiday, fuel is cheaper and food is good. Once there you can just chil out. Not plan C as I was surprised to see the real cost of SOF for boats and Im not sure I would trust the security, my cousins boat was broken into in NIce wehnhe had just gone to the bar for lunch one day

I too was surprised about the real cost of keeping a boat in SoF. I now know that I am am not well enough paid to afford to own a modest motor boat. This realization means that the number of people that can afford to own and keep a motor boat of any size is a much smaller % of the population that I had realized.

Neither. Option D.

Look for a berth, do a deal, and spend your 17 days moving the boat.

I have just done 4 days in SOF looking for a berth. Honesly, at this time of year forget it. The cost is E12,000 per annum (12m boat) and Mallorca just got one for E7000. I know Jimmy the Builder had success, but he was earlier in the season, and still has to move from place to place.

This site was posted by Scoty and wow - it is so simple to let a berth privately.

What ever I do end up doing I will be on my boat as from This coming Friday and if the weather is still pants by mid week thats when I need to make a descision so Paul if I am going anywhere on big bird it too will 13/7 :D

If you are coming over let me know. We flew in to Jersey this morning. Here is the view of Alderney as we came over, lovely flight, believe it or not from Cheltenham to Jersey direct.

Bit blustery here, but bright warm sunshine. Two hour snooze on the sun pad helped with the relaxing!

Does anyone know if the MBM cruise stayed longer than planned? A large group of Brit boats were leaving St Helier as we arrived.
