Chucking champagne bottles into the river - OK or not?

CRT have guaranteed funding for many years ahead.Your words B1.
Also have the ability to raise/charge for things the EA are unwilling/unable to do.
Some are far to happy with the status quo, heaven forbid HRR pay market rate.
It's been done to death on here,I'm just sad :(

Different rules apply to the thames , queens highway and all that.

It's not some made made ditch. There's a limit as to what CART will be able to charge for. It won't just be open season.

Then it should be run by an organisation that is dedicated to the best interests of the river.
Which is not/has never been the EA.

Yes, but much less than BW used to receive from the public purse. CRT must, and are now free to, develop new income streams from sponsorship, bequests etc which EA are currently not able to do. CRT's continuing income from government is also fixed for some years and not subject to the continuing reductions being suffered by the EA and other government departments. CRT will not want to take over the liability for the Thames without further government contribution which, we are told, government cannot afford in the current climate.
EA are between a rock and a hard place - government determined to reduce funding, not legally empowered to develop significant new income and current user income stream (primarily boaters) not surprisingly resisting any further increases.

In dpite of all this I am very much enjoying my trip on the river which is surprisingly and sadly quiet for mid July.

Grab a public mooring while you still can. The visiting NB's have been mooring at Teddington Lock with their bows pointed upstream!

We're heading off as soon as the schools break up. For the past 2 years we've left it until the end of the school holidays and been rained on:(
