Hello all, a quick reminder that for anyone thinking of buying Christmas prezzies via Amazon, if it's done through the RNLI link (not that easily found on its webpage, so best bookmarked), then the RNLI benefits from a percentage of the total spent. It all mounts up!

Cheers and (premature) compliments of the season....

"It all mounts up", never were truer words said about the RNLI.

Useful link, thanks.

Apologies for bouncing this back up, but 01 December and the weekend so maybe a few more of us are thinking about prezzies...... AG

That's all fine.

But separately, my wife just tried to order some RNLI Christmas cards using the normal link and found herself on a third party site, Charity Cards on line or something. When she went to pay, a whole load of personal details she didn't want to share were requested.

She ended up ordering from a different charity altogether on their own site.

If this third party site was intended to save some administration costs the RNLI needs to think again about the impact changes like that have on their supporters.

Yes apparently the RNLI online shop is temporarily closed for improvements, and card sales are being handled by a third party organisation. Quite agree about the requests for personal details, I won't supply anything that isn't directly related to the purchase in hand. Hopefully the situation will be resolved by next year, and in the meantime the cards can be bought from their shops.

I've had my wrist slapped by the moderator for promoting the RNLI on the forum, so won't be doing it in future. Strange times we live in. Cheers.

The problem with buying from RNLI shops is that our current local one, Whitstable, is rarely open when we go there. It's a good 45mins drive away. Thought of going there first but thought on line would be easier. Obviously we're not close enough to volunteer for the task.

If you've got any direct links into the RNLI, tell them they really need to refocus on how they, and their systems, appear to their potential supporters.

And then there's all this stuff about the St Helier lifeboat. Is there someone responsible for looking after their public relations? If they are paid it's much too much.

Yes it's not just HMG that's capable of making a hash of things from time to time. Voluntary organisations are just as susceptible, and closing the online shop at Christmas does appear to be a little unfortunate...

No, no direct links at all to it, just an ordinary Offshore Member. I sincerely hope they're not employing PR people, 'cos it would be a complete waste of money as you suggest.

My concern is buying from Amazon. Not only are they squeezing out independent suppliers and booksellers, but they don't pay their fair share of tax. I try not to use them.
