As neither my wife or I are too fussed about buying each other Christmas gifts this year, we decided to each purchase items for the boat.

My wife will be sporting a pair of matching shiny magnesium anodes, whilst I will be keeping out the winter freeze with 1/4" stern gland packing etc.

Seasonal or what :p:p

Ivor.

Ba Humbug.

Have told the wife that I am fully aware that her affections cannot be bought with mere tawdry baubles such as diamonds xmas foreign holidays and the like !
She is not speaking to me at the moment.....result or what.

We don't have mains drainage out in the country where we live and as a result, have to take a more than customary interest in our own private sewerage disposal arrangements. So some years ago, I bought Lady Pheran a new set of drain rods for Christmas. You can hardly see the scars now.....!:)

A result indeed, but an art that women are becomming moe skillful than men at. :D

I hate to break it to you Howard but the lock is supposed to get full of water . :D

I wonder how long it would take to pump out the barge lock with said bilge pump (assuming the head gates don't leak)/

I've seen such arrangements further upstream, so perhaps there is a problem?

Ok ....

Barge lock when full holds ( very approximately ) 7425 cu/m of water x 1000 = 7.425 million litres or 1.631 million gallons of water.

My santa bilge pump is rated at 360 GPH ...

So ..... 1,631,000 / 360 = 4533 hours or 188 days

Assuming the pump didn't pack up and there were no leaks on the head gates ( both unlikely ! )
