First, can I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and peaceful new year.

I look forward to seeing as many boats as possible in the bay for the CYC Boxing day+1 race. The race starts at 11.00 in the bay, just turn up and enjoy this fun race.

On New Years Eve the CYC cruisers are planning to have a cruise around the Holms. Locking out around 12.30 and getting back in plenty of time to get ready for the CYC news years eve party.

Well, everyone got back in one piece after the CYC boxing day +1 race. They all seemed happy in the bar afterwards.
Thanks to all the crews who turned up.

Weather permitting, I'll try to get down to join the fun. Cming down from Portishead so should arrive at the Holms about 13.30 - 14.00.

We are planning to lock out at 12.30, weather looks OK at present, 15-25 knots. I expect to see plenty of rain but that's to be expected.
Look forward to seeing you, are you planning to stay overnight?

Everyone is being asked to bring a plate of buffet food. There is a band, which I'm told are very good. Add that to the cheap beer, free mooring and legendary hospitality and what more do you need?

Much better organised this year - the OOD even had a working charged radio! Never known before. :D

OOD yacht could have done with an altogether bigger anchor buoy or better still, none at all. Nearly had that buoy

Many thanks for that and apologies for the buoy, I normally keep it onboard but after dragging I had to put more chain out.
Which was your boat?

Thats Lundy , miles away. Local sea forecast off Cardiff is 25kn SW at 1230 dropping to 16kn W at 1800 and 10kn NW by 2100 with wave height staring 1.2 but dropping off to 0.2 and temps a balmy 10C. The likes of windguru are even less windy - nothing to worry about.

Well, I wimped out. Wind, rain, grey = unappealing. However there is currently a plan to head out tomorrow (New Years Day) and potter down around Flat Holm and then back home. Perhaps we'll see the pursuit race in action as we pass by.
