This is good Byron, i'm trying really hard to convince Dad to take boat up to Thames for TVR and compete aswell. For years now i've wanted to but Mum and Dad say they have 'retired'. They get me all involved in the ATYC, I bring them luck and win it for them and then they go into retirment, nasty neglegent parents. Please help me!!

I can understand your Dad not wanting to compete after all he's got nowt to prove. He would be an excellent Judge though and he's experienced at that too. Apart from the competitions the weekend is fabulous for all ages as you know there's something for everyone. I wonder if Sarah's baby will be entered in the cadet class - gotta start 'em young tha' knows.

The TVR is probably the biggest motor boat rally on the Thames, yes! even bigger that the ATYC one. Each year it is held at Henley, we have a huge Marquee (as big as the one that you see at Ramsgate Week). Band(s), Grub, Dancing, Bar Competitions, bring and buy boat jumble. It is organised jointly by Oxford Ditch Cruising Club/Harleyford Motor Yacht Club/Windsor Yacht Club/Bray Cruising Club/Bourne End Yacht Club. Though one club is shortly coming out and another being invited in. Last year was a bit of a disaster due to the floods but usually there is in excess of 100 boats there.
The event is held over the 1st May bank holiday.

Are all comers welcome - club or not? Also, wots on the comp programme and do you need (competent) crew? Or is it just a good excuse for lots of everything?
Maybe I could wear my new martini mouse burgee?

I'd love to have another go but as you know the boat is in Brighton. If you want to lend me your new one or can persuade some other un-suspecting nut to turn over their pride and joy to me for a couple of hours I'll be there. Alternativly if your short of public enemy's (judges) give me the nod.
