Our top loading fridge has always presented a problem trying to find a cover that could be lifted without a projection or recess on top to trap dirt.
Inspiration struck resulting in a chopping board secured to the fridge cover. With a recess around the edge, it can easily be lifted and there is a decent seal on the fridge.
I have made one out of a piece of mahogany which happens to have a very nice grain. Accepting that, in use, it will become scarred, is there any way of enhancing the grain without the risk of tainting food?
