Anyone know a stockist of deck chocks for a CQR anchor? None of my local stockists seem to be able to get them, and before I try my very limited wood butchery skills I thought I'd ask you guys. Plastic or alloy will do, I'm not fussy. There was a set on e-bay last week but I spent too long in the pub and missed 'em...Doh!

Last set I got was in Pumpkin Marine - but that was some years ago ....

A phone round should bring them up as they are still current ......

Another way to do it is to use timber hardwood plates routed out - I've seen some very nice examples - better than chocks in fact !!

I don't believe the white nylon ones are made any more. Lewmar distribute CQR but when I asked them at the LBS if they supplied them I was told that nobody used them anymore because anchors were self-stowed on the stemhead.

I searched every chandlery from Newhaven to the Hamble and finally found half a set at Marine Bizarre at Burlsedon and the rest of it on the chandlery barge nearby. Most chandlers knew what I was talking about, had once had some but were unable to source new ones.

They consist of:

a T-shaped cleat which the end of the stock sits on and is secured to. That ought to be fairly easy to fabricate or replace with a small cleat

two hoop-shaped things which allow you to lash down the fat end of the stock - again two u-bolts or those black fairleads with holes through them would serve.

Two shaped pads that hold the point and the curved edge of the plough - they would be the trickiest things to copy. I can send you a pic if that helps.

I bought a set on Mail order from Aladdins Cave in So'ton a couple of weeks ago. 02380 407 447

They called them Un iversal Ancho Chocks and they are on the hooks above where they store their anchors.

Cheers

Ive seen them at one of the marina shops in Plymouth recently. Think it may have been at Mayflower but could have been any one of the chandlers as it was on a day that I had to hunt around a bit. It wouldn't have been over at the yacht haven I'm afraid.
