"Chirp" Image file for the Baofeng HH VHF Wanted

Has anyone managed to construct one for UK channels which they would be prepared to share?
I seem to be doing something wrong in that I'm only able to set channels up to twenty- something although the range is given as 1 - 127 .
Where I have succeeded with frequency setting, I'm not too sure about some of the other parameters (DTCS Code Polarity for instance)

I've been trawling for a csv(?) file for UK/INT channels. The one in CHIRP is US Marine, as I guess you've found. (worked well in Vancouver)
Setting by hand in CHIRP for duplex channels escapes me...
Surprisingly good £24HH- excellent listening time and you can listen to R4 and monitor marine at the same time.

What radio? Think this the file I used on a UV5R.

There's something about the squelch settings as well, stock squelch doesn't work very well but I can't remember if the settings are in that file. If it doesn't work I can dig out the programming cable & copy the file off the radio.

Great radios, mine is on 24/7 at anchor monitoring 16 & 72.

Looks promising- thanks. N

UV5R it is . Couldn't import the table directly but printing it reveals different order of columns, and naming. It is possible to extract the values needed and enter them via Chirp - easier than using the radio keypad but still rather tedious.
There is a value - "DSTAR" - floating about that does not seem to belong in any field of the table. Is this perhaps the radio this file actually relates to? If so would you mind downloading from your UV5R sometime? Boat is coming out for the winter this week so there is no rush.

They do seem to be great little pieces of kit for the money once you've found an intelligible User Manual online.

Thanks for your help.

Mike, you're right - same here. Might be some change in the chirp program.
I could load the CSV file either by opening (comes up in a new tab at the top the prog) or importing.
Not that it's much use, the radio | upload menu option is greyed out.

Anyway, try this one - it's an image file from the radio, just delete the ".txt" then the blah.img file should open and upload OK.

Hopefully.... ;)

Edit - looks like the useable squelch settings are in there as well, in the side tab setting | service settings

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have used GHA's file (minus a few spurious spaces) to programme my new UV-5RE. Not very obvious how to use CHIRP but the on-line help instructions are very good. My radio now works flawlessly on the UK marine vhf channels and also PMR uhf. Thanks very much for posting!

In case no one else has told you.... your radio also works illegally on UK marine vhf channels and also PMR uhf.... (in the UK)

Only if you transmit though, the UV5R works well to leave on anchored dual watch 16 & whatever the popular local channel is. Would be even better if it charged from usb!

Yes, that's widely known but not really pertinent to confirming the .csv data file is OK. Actually I don't think it's illegal with a ham licence ... ...

ps it also works illegally on lots of other frequencies and modes as well

Nope, there’s no distinction between transmitting and receiving for this purpose.

You’re not allowed to listen to traffic on the marine frequencies unless you have an applicable license. And assuming the license you have is the normal Ship Station one, one of its conditions is that you only use type-approved equipment.

Ham licenses allow the holder to use any equipment (including home made) that meets certain specs, but my understanding is that they can only use it on their ham frequencies. If you happen to have both licenses you can’t combine the “any equipment” from one with the “marine frequencies” from the other.

Of course this is all entirely theoretical, doubly so if you’re not transmitting.

Quick look in evernote - maybe..... not... ???

Probably other stuff dotted round though. Transmitting definitely a different ball game.

From memory doing the ham licenses there are no specs for ham kit at all, as long as it doesn't make a mess on the airwaves and stays within the allotted frequencies you can use what you want.

2.3 Maritime radio and the Radio Regulations Article 18 of the international Radio Regulations requires that: "No transmitting station may be established or operated by a private person or any enterprise without a licence issued in an appropriate form and in conformity with the provisions of these Regulations by or on behalf of the government of the country to which the station in question is subject."

i bought the UV-5RE to replace a handheld vhf that was nicked. But I think it's over 9 years since I last transmitted on the stolen handheld so I don't envisage much on the Baofeng either. It picks up broadcast FM stations as well.
