Lost the third chinaman last season, and am looking to buy yet another.

But the web/ebay don't seem to recognise the name.

Have I got it wrong??

Bought the last two in Padstow last year, caught bugger all tho.

Or is there a good design to make one myself??

I think he may be referring to a paravane which keeps the trace at a good depth until a fish strikes, when it will come to the surface.

If it's a paravane then any tackle shop should have one.

Very easy to make - I made one underway, after my plastic one broke. Cut from a piece of nylon chopping board with a small weight screwed to the nose. It has done several hundred miles since, and caught loadsa mackerel /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
