Chertsey Lock Closed

Chertsey lock is currently closed until further notice due to a gate issue. Latest from EA at 0845 this morning:
“Chertsey Lock Closure: Updated 1 December 2021
Chertsey Lock is currently undergoing an emergency repair, after a critical failure on the tail Lock Gate. We have completed an initial assessment but are unable to give a completion date for the works at this stage.We will update this page as soon as we can confirm that the lock will be back in use.”

Allington Lock on the Mudway were only using the upper part of the lock chamber as the lower gates need attention.
The big tree which was causing problems just below the lock has been cut up and removed.
As the lock cottage have woodburners suspect the bits will be put to good use.

Hoping to be up at Hampton Court Palace for Xmas day so fingers crossed that it is repaired soon.
