Please God no! We hate a dead run. A SW will do us very nicely thank you, a one tack beat there, and a one tack spinnaker reach home. That way on the homeward leg, a few of you might have a bit of a surprise

I've found it S4 on the way over and N4 on the back in the past. The other option is no wind which was also bad when trying to sail.

A 400 mile round trip would be a tad much for a weekend, even a long weekend unfortunately.

I plan on at least a week, to include the Channel Isles.

I think the next step then is choosing wether we go early season or late season and try and get a date in the diary by next weekend. I can see the benefits and disadvantages of both, but my own preference would be to break with tradition and go early season.
If you have a preference please say

I'm always up for a Cherbourg trip! Being Alderney based it's only a 1 hour 40 minutes run for me. If anyone's coming from Guernsey way and wants to do the Alderney-Cherbourg leg in company at 14-15 knots, I'd be happy to form a convoy.

I’ve attended in the past as a guest on a sailing boat and it was a great weekend.

I’d recommend it whatever type of boat you go by.

The rediculous mobo / raggie discord seems to dissolve outside the Solent.

Indeed. I have never ever come across such a thing in the med.

The only interesting discussion was so said the sail boats never put up their sails in Mallorca. The guy was very vigorous there they did. As about 6 sail boats under motor went past ! Any yes there was plenty of wind !
