Chentleman's Cruise 2005 - All Aboard

Re: Chentleman\'s Cruise 2005 - not this time

There is a hostery named after Butcher Cumberland in Kendal on Shap Road.
Legend has it that Stinking Billy stayed there on his way up to Culloden

duke of cumberland pub

indeed there is, i think it's called the Duke William. Otherwise, there are several dozens of pubs called the Duke of Cumberland in honour of the gallant defender of Northern Marches...

Re: duke of cumberland pub

The Duke of Cumberland is in Henley and thats a bit more boaty than Kendal so cos its on SB then I win

Re: Back Foot

I wouldn't mind taking part if you're not oversubscribed. I won't get to Craobh on the Thursday in time to reach Melfort before midnight, but could easily rendezvous with a Friday AM departure - particularly if you're heading south with the Friday morning tide.

All of the above depends on finishing off this weekend a few "wee joabs" that have taken up all available time this month to date...

Re: Back Foot

Thats Fine wee Davey
I'll PM you later next week - well, Wednesday ish
Meeting on Friday will be fine - I haven't told the others but we need to do the winter maintenance before we can get away!
Still...many hands and all that

Re: Back Foot

Thanks for that.

I tried to reply to your PM but got a message to the effect that it couldn't be sent since you'd exceeded your quota or some such.

Answers to questions posed: yes and no problem, respectively.

Re: Chentleman\'s Cruise 2005 - All Aboard

Pleased to see it's all coming together - just catching up now as I was far removed from e-world for a couple weeks.

We're still out of water, and I'm craving a bit of sailing. Anyone prepared to risk the offer of a berth? I'm all-singing, all-drinking and, for the last month, non-smoking. And slightly oversized in the vertical department. If there's still room, I might be able to work up the courage to ask Madame Sgeir for a long weekend pass.

Re: Chentleman\'s Cruise 2005 - All Aboard

Chust to let you know, I've had a very kind offer of a berth from Dave S, which I have gratefully accepted. I hope that he will not find the experience too traumatic.

I'm meeting up with him at Craobh. Identifying me should be no problem as I'm tall.

But, just in case I'm not instantly recognisable, here's a recent pic, taken last week while exploring the Stevenston shore:

Dave, smarten yourself up for goodness sake! Try and have good scrub before the weekend!

Or do cadavers fall apart if washed?
