Check your swivel!

This is not strictly speaking a shackle but the swivel from an IYE mainsheet traveller. As you will see the top is worn through to approximately half its original diameter so 6mm worn down to 3mm. I don't know if it's original. We replaced it with a good quality 6 mm shackle with the threaded side drilled out to accomodate the pin. Not a difficult job but we had had the boat more than 6 months before it was noted. A new IYE traveller is about £80 so this is a PBO fix par excellence.

A timely reminder after a tip from Tom Cunliff on p39 of July 2012 Yachting Monthly. I recognised the boom and mainsheet as it's the same as mine. I have now checked mine!
