Following a couple of threads on here recently I notice that my local Aldi has their 20squid shorties in at the moment, ideal if anyone wants a dinghy playsuit for the summer.

If you don't like Aldi, or don't think they are any good, that's fine, just move on & ignore this thread which is only intended to help those who do. :D

How dare you suggest that we should risk our lives in cheap wetsuits.
Unless you spend a lot of money you are bound to develop hypothermia and probably sore bits as well.

I don't know what the world is coming to.

I have reported this to the mods.

What's not to like about Aldi? Got the cable puller shown on the forum a couple of days ago - magic piece of kit! Next time I'll look for the wetsuit. Thanks for the heads up!

I've got a wetsuit that you can have for £25, only worn twice, large size, full length - only trouble is it seems to have shrunk and I can no longer get into it - or is it me?
I've had plenty of good stuff from Aldi, mostly cycling stuff.

I have one like that. Fitted perfectly 35 years ago but now shrunk beyond belief.

My brother had put on a bit of weight before squeezing himself back into his old wetsuit.

I thought he looked a bit like a badly stuffed black pudding!

My old canoeing wetsuit jacket still fits after some 30 years. Which is more than any of my lounge suits did. I went from a 36" chest to a 42" after 18 months of white water canoeing with weekly baths practice sessions & a daily one hour non-stop swim. It's amazing what a bit of exercise can do.

Fortunately I bought the jacket after I had built up the muscle!

I bought my cheap wetsuit from there a couple of years ago.
Excellent fit. Don't use it much at all so can't comment on durabilty.
No point in spending a lot if it's just for occasional use.
If it keeps you warm it's doing the job.

The thing is you need to try a wetsuit on and it needs to be snug fit everywhere in order for it to be effective. Make sure not too tight at the neck and it's much easier to try them on when they're wet, so when you and the suit are dry it will (and should) be a bit of a performance to get it on. neoprene is neoprene and unless you're a pro or dive loads a cheap one is as effective as an expensive one as long as it fits properly. Make sure you get the right thickness for the water temp. where you'll be using it...

Another plus for Outdoor Leisure Direct.

I bought two wetsuits last year. Excellent service especially when one proved too small. They exchanged without question.
