If you are within range of Hamble, Viking are selling off remaining stocks of Jotun paints, including antifouling, at cost . I bought 5 lit of their mid-range, self-polishing Mare Nostrum for £67. It's a perfectly respectable antifouling and legal for this season.

.....and for those in the West Country, Trago Mills have a small range of antifouling at their 3 branches (Falmouth, Newton Abbot and Liskeard). Their "January Sale" gives 15% off thier normal prices on Tuesdays and Thursdays in January. Seajet 033 for example, is then £38.25 for 2.5 litres. There is a choice of about 3 brands.

JJ the bargain basement boater

he just does this to get his head on straight again after he's been off playing in all those posh yachts

Last tin of Jotun I had ....

Flaked like dried mud in the river .... it was found to have little 'good carrier' in the paint and the whole batch was pushed off the shelves to the Boat Jumbles .... where I bought it !!!!!!

Nigel ...
Bilge Keelers get up further ! I only came - cos they said there was FREE Guinness !

Anti fouling seems to be popping up quite often lately and I was just about to suggest TragoMills in Plymouth but someone 12 years ago beat me to it ;-)

But have you noted JJs 12yo reference to Jotun Mare Nostrum? I thought it was a new brand for non-comms now we cant be trusted with Sea Queen et al??! Perhaps they have recycled the name but not the paint?

The photos below shown the results of 21months continuous immersion since June 2013 using Premier Marine Paints https://premiermarinepaints.co.uk/types/antifouling One can Steel white semi hard AF.

Most of the hull had two thick coats applied by brush and the leading and trailing edges, the top 12" below the boot top and along the bottom edge of the keel had three.

There is as you can see, heavy slime, easily washed off and a few barnacles and dead man's fingers. The engine water intake had a few coats of boot top (Hempel) and the prop had about 6 coats of Trilux Prop o Drev spray.

Good result I think, considering the boat was never hauled out in 2014 and scrubbed down, but I have some Jotun Seaforce 30 which I will be using this year.

It actually worked, now we are not savvy enough to use it
