Cheap Yacht for Sale

The dealer who sold me my boat went to Concarneau after the 1987 hurricane and bought two 40' Sun Legendes which had been holed and written off. His comment "GRP boats are like plasticine. They will be back as good as new in one month."

As boats need a certificate of seaworthiness from the "Affaires Maritimes" the repairs had to be properly carried out.

PS for Twister_Ken : He personally owned an Amel...

Since the boat has been completely stripped, the ( remaining) woodwork manked by moisture, the hull prob strained ( enough to remove the rudder and wobble the keel for a start), and lets assume that water or sand has penetrated the engine right through to the fuel pump, new rigging and sails and full electrics needed, and its an old boat and not a high value marque to begin with..£2000 to some chancer I reckon, not 20k.

Badly damaged Caribbean hurricane victims were at one time being sold for the value of the winches and hardware, buyer to remove the wreck pdq before environmental fines kicked in..Big ££ Ouch!

Sometimes you can't resist a bargain
It's the OH Bugger factor
