Cheap Summer Moorings in the Med

I have recently acquired a 14m yacht which is now in Sicily. Being new the Mediterranean, I have just discovered how mooring prices in many marinas in the Med seem to suddenly jump to fairly astronomical prices during the summer season.

While actively sailing, there is always the choice of finding a free anchorage, but responsibilities call and she may need to be parked for most of the summer.

Does anybody know of any cheap and secure places to moor a yacht in the western Med, especially during summer? Surely there must be some out of the way places that are not considered "highly fashionable".

Many thanks

Port Napoleon, ashore, is the usual answer.

Greece and Turkey seem to be regarded as the cheapest on the Northern side of the Med but obviously not Western Med.

The French or Italian Riveria or their islands seems to be exhorbitant from a few enquiries I made a couple of years ago.

I don't know about Spain. Sometimes I read sailing blogs saying how expensive it is and at other times there seem to be very good deals going, Balearics excluded.

No personal experience in Spain although I intend to sail across to my Brother-i-l's one day. His nearest marina is Puerto Banus which I assumed was going to be horrendously expensive from looking at the size of the motor yachts. However, was reading the other day that someone with a 37ft sailing boat was charged EUR20 for an overnight stop! Perhaps they missed off a zero!
