Cheap Solent mooring wanted for tiddler......

Hello Sailors

I know, I know, there's no such thing.

But I wonder if anyone has any bright ideas where I might find a river mooring, for example, which could accept an 18 foot Silhouette for the summer? Mud berth also might do.

Itchen / Beaulieu / Lymington / Hamble ideal.

Perfect world would be a pontoon of course, but this is unlikely to meet all the criteria....

Thanks in advance.

Cheap in the Solent is a relative thing. We are at Moody's on a pile mooring. Some might immediately shout that Moody's will be expensive, but it's not true - in my experience. We moved there four years ago because it was the cheapest we could find on the Hamble with all tidal states access. There are a few empty pile moorings; give them a ring.

Shamrock Quay by the bank ?

There are some very shallow/drying berths on the inside of the pontoons at Shamrock. I cant believe they charge that much for such a berth.....but then again, it is MDL!

The Hayling island Yacht Company advertise half tide pontoon berths. Also Chichester Harbour Conservancy is advertising tidal moorings in the Nutbourne channel.

No, its me aged about 5 - a long time ago - and the boat is my little Broom. Same sort of era and style as a Riva, but much much smaller I'm afraid. She's only 12'6"!

At Shamrock Quay we do have a number of ‘dinghy berths’ which have limited access – Max 4m cost £165 per metre p.a.(inc vat) - For that you get pontoon berth, car parking, water and use of the recently extended and modernised facilities.

We do have 4 or 5 drying berths that we discount out at c.25% off, these are half tide berths (once the dredge takes place next year will be back to full access berths). Any customer occupying these berths will have all the benefits of an annual Berth holder as a member of 'Club Outlook'. At this stage we would have room for a 18ft Silouette – cost £1540 less 25% = £1155 inc. vat.
