Hi i saw a photo recently of a cheap small outboard [maybe Chinese]like with a 4 stroke lawnmower type engine ?
anyone know where i can get more info?
cheers

I woudn't touch it with a barge pole - much better to buy a second hand yamaha/mariner/tohatsu - all of which can be maintained, and with minimal effort will be reliable.

If i can remember where i saw it i could evaluate it
needs to be a 4 stroke
already got 2 seagulls...too smokey
saw it on a forum but cannot remember which one
If a manufacturer came up with a less expensive ,reliable small 4 stroke [for tender]they would be quids in ...everyone wants one.

[/ QUOTE ] Most can be converted to run on 25:1 mixture. Then not noticably smokey . See The Saving Old Seagulls website for all the details.

For a cheap environmentally friendly o/b get an old starter motor from a scrap yard and an old o/b leg and try this

Get an old Seagull for £50-£100 depending on condition & size. With a little care it will last for ever!

Might be a jetmarine one Ive just bought a 5hp 4 stroke well good plenty of power paid £630 the 4hp is about £80 cheeper im told its a rebadged yam it might be chinese but hay ive had a chinese generator for about 5 years give it loads of abouse it still keeps going and when it doesnt it will become a anchor cos it was so cheep its not worth repairing, do the maintainance and it keeps going

May be you are thinking of a Briggs and Stratton. These are currently available new in the USA as a 5hp aircooled model.
