cheap mooring lines?

where can i get cheap mooring lines. i can make up eye splices and all that milarkey, but i'm too tight to pay LIBS prices.

i'm looking at 10mm Dia. for a 26ft boat, bow stern and springs, any ideas.

Wait for the Boat jumble season to start or look on ebay, been a few people selling ropes on there.

Never could understand climbers.They get cold wet and frightened then call it fun??

have always found Alladdin's cave at Bursledon/swanwick v. cheap for 3-strand nylon & sometimes for double-braid.
 
Try your local agricultural merchant, or 'proper' chandler that deals with shipping, fishing fleets etc (Atlas in Gt Yarmouth, Grundy in Lowestoft etc), or builders merchant or for really cheap (but weaker) polypropylene rope get it from a lorry tarpaulin supplier or screwfix direct or even Machinery Mart (about £22 for 220mtr). Be carefull at boat jumble's, I have seen second hand rope dearer than you need pay for new
 
Don't buy cheap mooring lines. You paid £10,000-100,000 for the boat and now you want to save £50 on the mooring lines? It doesn't make sense.
 
You obviously haven't met Aztec, don't swear at him with amounts of money like that, he even haggles over a pint with the barman!/forums/images/icons/wink.gif
 
Surely it's because one spends loadsa money on a boat that we're forced to make economies elsewhere. The trick is to buy good rope (or whatever) at a cheap price by finding sources that do not charge the usual yottie premium.

Just smarting from not taking my own advice. This morning ordered 4 phosphor bronze nuts and bolts to re-install the Blakes seacock at a cost of nearly £6 EACH, plus post and packing!
 
first part of your post... you hit the nail on the head.

second part....ouch!! lots of fastener companies will supply you with bronze or brass nuts, also instead of bolts or set screws, you can use threaded rod, and peen the fixed end over.
